I finished the Fukin. After hand washing to erase the draft dots and lines, I dried it roughly and ironed it.This has “HANA JU-JI” ( flower cross ) patterns on the right side, and it shows “KAKI NO HANA” (persimmon flower) patterns on the back side.
I have been testing with several types of threads and cloth for my SASHIKO practice. Different threads make different faces of SASHIKO. Usually SASHIKO thread is twisted 6 or 8 cotton threads and it has less glossiness than normal Embroidery thread. Each brand / shop has a different types of SASHIKO threads. Thickness, Texture and of course Colours.
The famous craft brand Olympus has a lot of colour variation. In my opinion, it is a little thickish and fluffy. One skein is 20 metre long which is good for small goods. If you are SASHIKO beginner, this is my suggestion.
I even have tried cotton hand sewing thread. It was like an ascetic practice but I was very satisfied when I finished it.
I run to Spot Light to get more cotton threads. Gutermann is a little thinner than Japanese DARUMA thread which I used.
I want to try more brands’ and shops’ threads. It still will never be enough.
